Tixel

From 75,-

The Tixel treatment is an intensive treatment for skin rejuvenation and skin improvement. The laser is also very suitable for treating scars, such as acne scars or scars that occurred after surgery.

What is Tixel?

Tixel skin rejuvenation involves gently stamping a small heated metal plate of tiny pyramid-shaped cones onto the skin’s surface without damaging deeper skin tissues. It is not a laser, but instead, it utilizes thermo-mechanical ablative (TMA) technology to create tiny channels in the skin. Tixel simply delivers controlled heat at a high temperature directly to the skin, which stimulates new collagen formation to improve skin quality. The channels formed can be immediately used to deliver products into the skin that address skin concerns such as tightening, pigmentation, rosacea, or acne scarring.

Tixel is suitable for use on the face, neck, décolletage, hands and around the eyes. Unlike laser or needling treatments, Tixel can be used on the eyelid and tear trough for a non-surgical eye lift.

What can Tixel be used for?

  • Skin tightening to improve skin tone and texture
  • Skin rejuvenation
  • Enlarged pores
  • Acne and acne scarring
  • Lines and wrinkles
  • Natural eye lift for sagging eyelids or undereye bags
  • Stretch marks

How should I prepare for the Tixel?

  • Avoid sun and tanning beds for four weeks prior to treatment.
  • Stop using three to seven days before treatment: an exfoliant, retinol (vitamin A cream), hormone cream and hydroquinone.
  • Stop taking blood thinners seven days before treatment (consult with your doctor if this is possible).
  • If you suffer from an active cold sore, you should not be treated and should wait until the cold sore is completely healed.
  • Botox and/or filler treatments may be performed up to two weeks prior to treatment.
  • Avoid facial treatments two to four weeks before treatment, such as strong chemical peels, micro-needling and CO2 laser
  • In case of symptoms such as fever or flu, you will not be treated.
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, the treatment cannot be performed.

How does the treatment work?

Before the treatment, we clean and disinfect the skin thoroughly. A small 1 cm square titanium plate with a matrix of 81 tiny pyramid-shaped pins delivers heat in a stamping pattern. Brief millisecond pulses treat the skin in a fractional mode meaning small zones are treated surrounded by normal skin, which minimizes skin reaction. The settings on the Tixel are adjustable in the depth of penetration into the skin and the duration of the tip in the skin. This allows us to tailor treatments to the skin condition being treated, the skin type of the patient and the downtime that is acceptable.

Possible skin reaction after treatment

Your skin may feel tight, warm and slightly sensitive, as if you have been in the sun, with some swelling and redness 24-72 hours post-treatment. Your skin can remain pink to red for 2-3 days, and a light brown micro crust will form for 7-10 days. When the skin is itching, it is best not to scratch, as this can damage the skin. It is important to take care of the skin according to the advice of the practitioner to allow the skin to recover quickly and properly. This achieves the optimal treatment result.

Aftercare

  • For the first 24 hours after treatment, do not do anything to the skin, and do not wash or apply cream unless otherwise advised.
  • For the first 48 hours, you should avoid heat sources such as saunas, swimming pools and intense exercise.
  • You should not wear makeup for the first 48 hours after treatment. Medical makeup, such as Oxygenetix, may be allowed if necessary.
  • Sleep on a clean pillowcase every other day.
  • Do not use scrubs and peels for the first two weeks after treatment.
  • For the first three to seven days, do not use intensive, exfoliating products with acids in them, such as glycolic acid and salicylic acid and do not use retinol and hydroquinone.
  • You should not scratch/pull at the scabs and/or peels.
  • After treatment, it is important to care for the skin with a restorative cream, such as Alhydran, to promote the healing process and allow the skin to heal more beautifully. Alhydran can be applied two to three times daily and can be purchased at the clinic.
  • During the treatment process, it is important to avoid direct sunlight on the skin and tanning beds. It is essential to use daily sun protection with at least SPF50.

After one treatment, it is already possible to see visible improvement, but on average, four to six treatments are needed for optimal results.
